Australia's Safeguard Mechanism


The Safeguard Mechanism is a framework established by the Australian government for high-emitting companies, which aims to limit greenhouse gas emissions from facilities that exceed emission benchmarks. Covered industries include mining, manufacturing, transportation, etc., and are applicable to facilities that emit more than 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year.
